Electrical Codes for every Room

»Posted by on Jul 10, 2020 in Electrical Services | 0 comments

Electrical codes are general guidelines given to make sure that homeowners and their family in their residences are safe. These codes are usually based on the National Electrical Code (NEC). This is also the guide used by electricians and electrical inspectors during remodeling and installations. Residential electrical systems are different from the commercial electrical system, that is why electrical codes should be followed to pass the code inspections and so you can proceed with your remodeling and installations. Code varies in every place, so it’s better to check the latest local code before proceeding to your project. Despite of the variation there is a standard range of electrical code in every room in your house or space.

Here are the general guidelines for every room as required by the NEC.

1. Bathrooms have inevitable presence of water. Most bathrooms have lights, hot and cold shower hairdryers and outlets for other appliances. Most bathrooms have many outlets and the most common outlet receptacle should be able to serve a 20-amp circuit. This is not enough, you should add another 15 am or 20-amp circuit for additional lights, heaters or vent fans.

2. Kitchen consumes the biggest electricity at home. It needs different receptacles for different kitchen appliances like microwave, coffee maker, water dispenser, blender, refrigerator and more. To keep these entire appliances working, a kitchen must have a two 20-amp 120-volt circuit in every receptacle. For kitchen lighting, supply a separate 15-amp circuit as a minimum. To pass code inspections, all receptacles which are 6 feet away from the sink need to be ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)-protected too.

3. Living room, dining room, and bedrooms have almost the same requirement. The living room is the modest power user; hence it is served by standard 120-volt 15 amp or 20-amp circuits. This could already serve one to two rooms. Receptacles should be placed every two feet or if a wall is wider than two feet then it needs its own receptacle. If you wish to have an entertainment system in either of these rooms, add another 20-amp circuit for every appliance you wish to add in the room.

There are other additional requirements, especially if there is a new construction. NEC strictly requires arc-fault circuit-interrupter (AFCI) protection for all branch circuit lighting and receptacles to prevent fire. This AFCI should have its own breaker. Receptacles in kitchen and bathrooms protected with GFCI can be replaced by AFCI for safer use.

These are the common rooms in every residential area. If you wish to install different fixtures or remodel your home make sure that you follow these electrical codes form every room. Electrical codes are given to make sure that every home is a safe place to live. Electrical Code inspectors are strict in implementing and checking these codes. Inspection is done annually, so it is advantage if you have your electrical system checked annually too before inspection period comes. Thus, make sure your contractor is taking care of this together with your electrician.

How to Have a Streak-Free Window

»Posted by on Jul 10, 2020 in Window Cleaning | 0 comments

Cleaning a window in your office or house might need the help of a professional. However, there are a couple of occasions where you will have to do a quick DIY cleaning task. This is particularly true if you’ve got unexpected guests coming over.

If that’s the case, then you shouldn’t worry. We’re here to help. If you want a streak-free Waco window cleaning job, here are a couple of tips and tricks that you can follow:

Tools Needed for a Streak-Free Window Cleaning

You want to choose the tools that don’t have lint when picking the equipment to clean the windows. You should also choose tools that can help avoid streaks. These tools should include:

  • Coffee filters – An unused coffee filter is almost the same as a newspaper. It also gets rid of lint.
  • Newspaper – You should not use the comic section or the colored ads of a newspaper. You have to use white and black newspaper print. This can help you avoid the lint that’s left behind when using paper towels.
  • Squeegee – This is a tool that has a plastic blade and a handle. You can use it to wipe away the cleaning solution.
  • Microfiber Cloth – Microfiber cloth gets rid of the lint left by other cloths.

Methods for a Streak-Free Window Cleaning

  • Make sure you use a damp cloth or wet the glass if you want to get rid of spots.
  • Do not use paper towels to avoid any paper remnants.
  • Don’t ever utilize abrasives when cleaning glass. This can cause etches to your window.
  • Whenever the sun isn’t directly shining on your window, it’s the ideal time to clean it. Aside from that, an overcast day is also an ideal time to clean your windows. If you clean your windows on a sunny day, the heat from the sun will immediately dry the cleaning solution before you can get rid of it.
  • Apply the solution using a spray bottle if you’re using a newspaper or a coffee filter. Use vertical or horizontal strokes when wiping away the solution.
  • Make sure you utilize a single continuous movement from the top to the bottom of the window when you’re using a squeegee. Use a damp cloth to wipe the squeegee whenever you’re done. Do this technique every time you move from one window to another.
  • To apply the cleaning solution, you can use a sponge or a cloth and dip it. Then, wipe the solution to the entire window. Next, use the squeegee to get rid of the solution. Use a cloth to wipe the extra solution around the window edges.

However, you should know that this isn’t the best way to achieve a streak-free window cleaning. How do you achieve that? Well, the best way is to hire a professional window cleaning company. These professionals have all the tools and expertise needed to properly clean a window without any steaks. In addition to that, you might also have to hire one if the window is hard-to-reach, such as windows on the upper floors of your building.
